The Order of Canada insignia.

On December 30, Governor General Mary Simon named 99 Canadians to the Order of Canada. It’s one of our country’s highest honours.

“They desire a better country”

The Order was created in 1967, to mark Canada’s one hundredth birthday. Since then, 7600 Canadians have been inducted.

The most recent appointees come from across Canada. They come from many walks of life. One thing unites them. They’ve all made a difference.

Hotshot hockey hero

Hockey fans will know one name on the list. It’s fast-skating, quick-shooting Sidney Crosby.
