Did you watch the Beijing Olympics? The Winter Games opened February 2. Almost 2900 athletes from 91 countries came to China to compete.
Canada sent 215 athletes. As they marched into the opening ceremonies, each one dreamed of winning. Olympic champions Marie-Philip Poulin and Charles Hamelin carried the Canadian flag.

Isabelle Weidemann delivered Canada’s first medal. It was a bronze in 3000-metre long-track skating. Five days later, she won a silver in the 5000-metre.
