A new multisport competition launched in August. But the competitors weren’t human. They were robots. 

China hosted the World Humanoid Robot Games. The competition attracted 280 teams from 16 countries. More than 500 humanoid robots took part.

What’s a humanoid?

What exactly is a humanoid robot? It’s a robot designed to look like a human. Like us, they have a body, two arms, and two feet. And, like us, they stand upright.

The robots use artificial intelligence (AI). But humans with controllers tell them what to do.
