In 2023, measles killed 100,000 people worldwide. Most of them were children under five.

Now this virus is spreading in Canada again. More than 2100 cases have been reported this year. That’s more than anywhere in the Americas.

Spreading like wildfire

Several provinces have had outbreaks. Almost 1800 cases have been reported in Ontario. They stem from an outbreak that started last October. Another 500 cases have been reported in Alberta since March. Smaller outbreaks are heating up in Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
