James Harrison passed away February 17 at the age of 88. This Australian man was a hero. He saved the lives of 2.4 million babies.
How? By giving blood. Not just once, but every two weeks for 62 years.
A rich gift
And not just any blood. Mr. Harrison’s blood contained a rare antibody – a lot of it. It’s used to make Anti-D, a medicine given to some pregnant women.
His precious blood and regular donations earned Mr. Harrison a nickname – “The Man with the Golden Arm.”
