Quebec City’s winter carnival is one of the biggest and oldest in the world. Half a million residents and tourists take part.

Made in Quebec

The first Carnaval was held in 1894. Why? To help brighten up the long, cold winter.

For the first 50 years, Carnaval was an on-again, off-again event. But it has been an annual tradition since 1955.
