Micah Zandee-Hart was a year old when women’s hockey debuted at the 1998 Olympics. At age five, she watched Team Canada’s historic gold victory at the 2002 Olympics. All her life, young Micah dreamed of winning her own gold medal. At the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, that dream came true.

But Micah never dreamed she’d play professionally someday.

“Being a kid on Vancouver Island, I never thought I would play pro hockey,” she says. “That’s because it didn’t exist.”

A league of their own
